Let’s be clear from the outset: we’re not knocking traditional garages who offer tyre fitting. They offer a great and necessary service, and we’ve got nothing but respect for the owners and their employees. It’s just that we think that for some customers, our mobile service is a better option and that’s what our tongue-in-cheek comparison is all about.
With that out of the way, let’s imagine two customers, Lauren and Steph. Both of them are working single mums. Both have a badly worn tyre that needs replacing. But they go about it in different ways.
Lauren uses a tyre-fitting garage
Lauren starts her day with a logistical headache. She’s got to get the kids to school, drop the car off, then get to work. That means setting off early – with accompanying protests from the kids – dropping them off, then battling early morning traffic across town to get to the garage.
Stage two is getting from the garage to work, except co-worker Mike is also stuck in traffic. They arrive at work late. No biggie, but she could have done without it.
Lauren has recruited her mum to pick the kids up from school and bring them back home later. Another round of coordination, another person who has to help out, but it all goes smoothly.
Mike is leaving early today, so that means drafting in co-worker Nikki to get Lauren back to the garage. Another person disrupted and more battling across town, this time in the afternoon rush hour.
At the garage, the manager is dealing with another customer with a complicated issue to resolve. Lauren spends the next eight minutes glancing round the dowdy room, and leafing through a 2008 edition of Home and Garden.
Eventually, she gets the tyres paid for, battles through the traffic for the third time and arrives home.
Did Lauren have a disastrous day? Did the garage do terrible work? That’s a ‘no’ to both questions!
It’s more that getting this simple routine job was a slow, clunky process, with way more hassle than necessary.
Fortunately, there’s a better way…
Steph uses BK Tyres
Steph googles ‘mobile tyre fitters in South Oxfordshire’, finds BK Tyres, and notices they have dozens of outstanding reviews. On the website, she finds she has plenty of tyre options for her car, but wants a bit of advice. A quick call with the BK Tyres team sorts that out, and she books in a visit from them the next day. Easy!
As arranged, the BK Tyres van shows up at her work car park. She unlocks the car and says hello. All the technician needs is a bit of access space, so she goes back to work and lets him get on with it. When he’s done, her car has a brand new tyre and the old one has been taken for responsible disposal.
Steph is ready to drive home on her safe new tyre. The whole process, including the booking, has taken her less than ten minutes.
There’s only one thing missing at BK Tyres. Hassle.
In our fictional – but not necessarily unrealistic – comparison, Lauren and Steph get the same high level of service you’d expect from professionals. They’ve paid similar amounts. They’ve both had experts on hand to give advice as needed.
The only difference is that Steph got this with a lot less hassle. And that’s why, if you’re in South Oxfordshire and need tyres replacing, we think you should get in touch.
